BONTANG - PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) has quietly begun developing a coal down-streaming project through its subsidiary PT Indominco Mandiri. The estimated US$200 million gasification project is expected to be commercially operational by 2025.

Indominco Mandiri management said it had conducted initial studies with the Mineral and Coal Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Tekmira ESDM).

The study, completed at the end of 2022, revealed that the underground coal gasification (UCG) project had the potential for development.
